Functional Diagnostic Nutrition (FDN)

Andrew is our functional diagnostic nutritionist. FDN is a form of detective work that seeks to find the true root cause of what is creating the issues that you are having. Although symptoms are important to recognise and appreciate, symptoms may go unresolved if you never find the true cause and continually treat symptoms over delving deeper and look at how the body is functioning holistically. Andrew has held recent workshops on female fat loss and is a sought after trainer in Wellington. He also has an extensive knowledge base of hormones and how they interact with the body to block weight loss.

What is the FDN process?

Through functional lab testing (urine, saliva, stool, blood) we are able to establish if there are any underlying malfunctions that are halting expected progress. These tests uncover what is actually going on and creates opportunities to build your health and achieve your desired goals.

What Can FDN Help Me With?

  • Weight Loss
  • Gastrointestonal Distress, i.e. bloat, gas, pain, constipation, diarrhea, leaky gut, belching
  • Low Energy
  • Hormonal Imbalances
  • Skin Problems
  • Headaches and Mental Fogginess
  • Poor Immunity

Testimonials

Belinda Trenaman

…. I’d been looking for somewhere that could offer me the whole package, training, nutritional advise, and somewhere that had knowledge with people that have what I fondly call ‘health challenges’.  To be honest I needed convincing.

I walked into Studio41 off the street after scanning their website.  The first trainer I spoke to said that what I was asking was outside his expertise, however, Andrew at Studio41 would be able to help. Anyway, my question to Andrew was “what do you know about disease management?”  No-one had ever asked Andrew this question before.  In a brief consult, it didn’t take long for me to realise that they really did know more than the average gym, Andrew suggested having some lab tests done and explained what the benefit of having them done would be.

Over the past 7 yrs, I had had approximately 15 operations, 10 in the last 2 yrs.  I’d gained over 20kg, 15 of which in the last 2 yrs.  My metabolism was non-existent, and alarmingly, I was getting bigger and bigger and unhappier and unhappier.

I’ve always been rather disciplined in exercising and eating, had to due to my ongoing ‘health challenges’, I was walking anywhere between 50-80km per week and after 10 months of putting in a solid effort of beating the feet, the results were devastating!  I had always believed that if you exercised and ate properly, you’d be healthy, which has always been my main goal….. I ended up back in hospital!

When Andrew asked me what my goal was, I said I wanted to lose 10kg, although, I had no-idea how much I weighed!  I still have no-idea how much I weigh.  I can tell you that I’ve dropped a dress size!

During my 2nd consult with Andrew, it dawned on me that this would require my hard work. The lab results came back and I was put through a rigorous routine which involved diet, exercise and supplementation. After only 3 months, I can say I feel fantastic.  I get compliments all the time about my appearance.

My cravings for sweet things have ceased, my hunger in general has subsided.  I’m enjoying food without consequence, still keeping within the parameters of the nutritional advise given, but when I eat out, I enjoy it.  I’ve come off all but one medication and taking a more holistic approach and would say I’m feeling as if I’m on the path to feeling ‘healed’, and this is after years of seeing specialist after specialist.

After years of sleepless nights, I’m sleeping so much better, but more so, I’m waking up feeling alive and I want to live life to the fullest!

I can’t thank Andrew enough for going that extra mile for me.  He researches and takes an interest in whatever challenges I throw at him and for this I am so grateful!
