Meet the Trainers
My passion for fitness comes from a desire to always improve. I have many different types of training and I love all things physical (except for split squats of course). I have competed in Athletics and Judo, I was also a rep Hockey player for 7 years and I started Powerlifting at 15 years old, achieving a record deadlift of 180kg for my age and weight.
My own training has evolved into understanding that it is about the client, what is right for them, not what is right for me. This may be a mix of strength, rehab or cardio. But above all else what ever training we do it has to be maintainable for the client.
I am currently studying under the CHEK institute and looking at scientific back and core training. Learning motivates me and keeps my mind busy.
I have been a coaching people for over 5 years now and still enjoy helping someone achieve a goal.

Porou has been involved in the recreation and operations sector of the Wellington City Council for the past 10 years with the last 3 Years of that working as fitness consultant and a personal trainer.
From a young age he has been involved in sports and fitness in particular rugby and rowing which required a high level of commitment to be competitive in. Today his motivation has moved away from competitive sports to challenging himself in the gym to maintain a healthy lifestyle. His training in the gym is centred on well structured weight loss programs that give the best results.
Key motivation as a personal trainer is to share my passion and knowledge with others so they can better achieve their health and fitness goals within a realistic timeframe. What attracted me to studio41 was the idea of being put in a position to improve as a personal trainer and to continue to upskill and better my educational development under the Studio41 education opportunities they provide.
Gina discovered the value of investing in her health and wellbeing while working in the busy education sector. She soon noticed how prioritising a regular exercise program into her already busy schedule
made her feel better - more confident, resilient and productive. This lead to positive outcomes in her work and personal life. Because of this, she really understands what it’s like to manage the challenges of the ‘work-life balance’ and has a strong desire to support people to find theirs.
Gina entered the fitness industry because she wants to see through regular exercise people feeling better at work and play. Gina joined Studio41 because of their holistic approach to not just exercise but working on a clients health. This includes working on exercise, sleep, nutrition and healthy lifestyle habits. She’s also excited to watch people learn, see their potential growth and reach their goals.
Gina loves that physical wellness offers amazing adventures, having climbed the mountains of the Annapurna Ranges in Nepal and the highest mountain in Malaysia and completed several of the New Zealand's Great Walks. I have been in the fitness industry for over 5 years working mostly as a personal trainer and fitness manager. I have been involved with sport and fitness my whole life and have represented Wellington and New Zealand in Football. I am currently and have been for 2 years an IFBB Men’s physique Body Building athlete. Competing in this sport has taught me the importance of not only dedication and discipline to training, more importantly having self-belief and confidence in myself to reach each and every goal that I set myself.
I take pride in helping my clients reach their goals by tailoring a tough but fun training and nutrition regime. I want to empower you with the tools and knowledge necessary not only to achieve your fitness goals but your overall health and wellbeing. Nathan came to the fitness industry with the desire to change career paths from an office based Services Advisor to full time Health and Fitness Trainer. He has always had a great deal of passion for the industry and has been actively involved in Football and Cricket throughout his life.
Nathan sees personal training as empowerment through education, he recently travelled to Sydney to attend internationally renowned strength coach Charles Poliquin’s Bioprint seminar. Continual education is what motivates him on a day to day basis, sharing this knowledge and putting it into practise with clients is what he does the best. He takes a great deal of satisfaction from not only clients achievement of their goals but also the positive changes in behaviours that lead to a more holistic healthy lifestyle.
He believes that each individual needs an exercise, nutritional and supplement program tailored specifically to their goals, with careful considering of the real life limitations that an individual’s lifestyle may pose. Designing a sustainable program within these limitations is the challenge that he thrives on.
